Kairos - Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Kairos ("the App"). These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Kairos mobile application and related services ("Services").

By downloading, accessing, or using Kairos, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. About Kairos
Kairos is a wellbeing and self-reflection application that provides journaling, check-ins, AI-guided conversations, tools, analytics, reminders, and supportive communication features.

Kairos is designed to support:
- emotional wellbeing
- self-awareness and reflection
- personal growth and habit-building
- communication and relationship support

2. Not Medical, Therapeutic, or Legal Advice
Kairos is not a medical service, therapy service, legal service, or emergency response service.
The App does not provide diagnosis, treatment, prescriptions, legal opinions, or professional crisis intervention.

Kairos is not a substitute for a licensed therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, doctor, lawyer, or other qualified professional.

3. Safety and Crisis Support Features
Kairos may present safety-focused options when user messages suggest immediate risk. Depending on the information available, the app may show localized emergency guidance, crisis-support links, or a prefilled trusted-person message.

These features are supportive only. Kairos does not guarantee that it will detect every crisis situation, identify the correct local resource in every country, contact emergency services for you, send text messages automatically, or keep you safe in real time.

If you believe you may harm yourself or someone else, or you are otherwise in immediate danger, you must contact local emergency services, a qualified local crisis line, or a trusted person nearby without waiting for the app.

4. Eligibility
To use Kairos, you must:
- be at least 13 years old, or the higher minimum age required in your country
- have permission from a parent or legal guardian if local law requires it

5. User Accounts
Some features may require an account. You agree that you will:
- provide accurate information when creating or updating your account
- keep your login credentials private
- be responsible for activity under your account

We may suspend or terminate accounts if misuse, abuse, fraud, or illegal activity is detected.

6. User Content
You may submit content such as:
- journal entries
- check-ins and reflections
- AI session messages
- profile information and preferences
- optional trusted contact phone numbers

You retain ownership of your content. However, you grant us permission to store, process, and transmit that content only as needed to operate the Services, including saving data, generating AI responses, providing personalized insights, and supporting safety-related flows.

7. Permissions and Device Actions
Certain features may rely on permissions or external apps, including notifications, location, photo upload, calling, texting, browser links, and app-store billing.

If you grant these permissions or choose these actions, you authorize Kairos to use the related device capabilities for the requested feature.
Calls, texts, and purchases are opened in external apps or platform flows and remain subject to your device, carrier, app-store, and third-party provider terms.

8. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
Kairos includes AI-generated responses and summaries. These responses:
- may be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, or inappropriate in some situations
- should not be relied on as professional advice
- are intended for general wellbeing, reflection, and communication support

You understand and accept that AI responses are generated automatically.

9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Kairos for:
- illegal activity
- harassment, hate speech, or abusive conduct
- violent threats, exploitation, or intentional misuse of safety features
- attempts to exploit, bypass, reverse engineer, hack, or disrupt the App
- uploading malware or harmful code

We reserve the right to restrict or remove access if misuse occurs.

10. Ads and Subscriptions
Kairos may include advertisements and paid subscription offerings.

Subscriptions may:
- remove ads
- unlock premium features
- expand access to AI or guided content

Payments are processed through Apple, Google, or other authorized platform providers.
Subscriptions may renew automatically unless cancelled through the relevant store or billing provider.
Refunds are handled according to the applicable platform policies.

11. Privacy
Your use of Kairos is also governed by the Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect, how we use it, how AI features use it, and your choices and rights.

12. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user data. However, no system can be guaranteed completely secure, and you use the App at your own risk.

13. Service Availability
We aim to keep Kairos available and working properly, but we do not guarantee:
- uninterrupted availability
- error-free performance
- accurate or appropriate AI output in every case
- availability of location, calling, texting, notifications, or third-party services on every device or in every country

We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

14. Intellectual Property
All rights in Kairos and its non-user content belong to Kairos or its licensors, including branding, design, text, UI, prompts, and tool structure.
You may not copy, distribute, resell, or exploit the App without written permission.

15. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms. You may stop using Kairos at any time.

16. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kairos and its creators are not liable for:
- decisions made based on AI output
- emotional, mental, physical, or financial harm arising from use of the App
- unavailability or inaccuracy of crisis-support localization, third-party services, or external device actions
- loss of data, indirect damages, or incidental damages

Your use of Kairos is at your own discretion and responsibility.

17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are significant, we may notify you inside the App. Continued use of Kairos means you accept the updated Terms.
