Privacy Policy - Kairos

1. Introduction
Kairos respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the Kairos app.

By using Kairos, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect
a) Information You Provide
- display name, nickname, pronouns, date of birth, country, and optional profile details
- relationship status, goals, communication preferences, support preferences, hobbies, and settings
- profile photo if you choose to upload one
- journal entries, check-ins, reflections, and AI session messages
- account information such as email address when you sign in
- optional trusted contact phone number for crisis-support messaging

You choose what personal information to add, and many profile fields are optional.

b) Information Collected Automatically or From Your Device
- device type, operating system, app version, and basic identifiers
- app usage, reliability, and performance information
- notification token and timezone information
- subscription or entitlement state
- anonymous or authenticated identifiers needed to save your data
- location data if you grant permission, which may include latitude, longitude, location label, country, and country code

If location permission is granted, Kairos may use reverse geocoding to turn device coordinates into a place label or country so the app can localize weather, reminders, and crisis-support resources.

c) AI-Related Data
- messages and relevant profile context may be processed by secure service providers to generate replies, insights, reflections, or summaries
- safety-related messages may be used to trigger in-app crisis-support flows
- Kairos does not use your personal content to train public AI models

3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- provide journaling, check-ins, AI sessions, tools, and history
- personalize guidance, tone, suggestions, analytics, and reminders
- localize weather, timezone handling, and crisis-support resources
- support trusted-contact messaging when you choose to use that feature
- manage your account, notifications, subscriptions, and app settings
- improve reliability, security, abuse prevention, and product quality

We do not sell your personal data.

4. Crisis Support and Trusted Contact Features
If Kairos detects language that suggests immediate risk, the app may show a safety sheet with emergency guidance, local crisis-support options, or a trusted-person messaging action.

If you save a trusted contact phone number and tap that action, Kairos may open your phone messaging app with a prefilled safety message. Kairos does not send text messages automatically on your behalf.

Crisis-support features depend on available permissions, location information, device behavior, third-party services, and country-specific resources. We do not guarantee detection of every crisis situation or the availability or accuracy of every local number, link, or service.

5. How Information May Be Shared
We may share information only as needed with trusted service providers that help us operate the app, such as providers for hosting, authentication, storage, messaging, AI processing, subscriptions, analytics, customer support, or advertising.

If you choose to open a phone call, text message, browser link, or app-store purchase flow, your device may pass information to those external services under their own terms and privacy policies.

We do not sell or rent personal data.
Journal content, AI conversations, and emotional reflections are not shared with advertisers for ad targeting.

6. Advertising and Subscriptions
Kairos offers both a free ad-supported version and paid subscription options.

Advertisements
- ads may appear in the free version
- ads are served by third-party providers
- advertisers do not receive your journal entries, AI session text, or emotional reflection content from Kairos

Subscriptions
- subscriptions may remove ads and unlock premium features
- payments are handled by Apple, Google, or other platform billing providers
- Kairos does not store your full payment card details

7. Notifications and Permissions
Kairos may request notification, location, photo, storage, phone, or messaging-related permissions depending on which features you use.
You can manage permissions at any time in your device settings.

8. Your Choices and Rights
You may:
- access or update profile information inside the app
- change or remove your trusted contact number
- manage notifications and other device permissions
- delete your account and request removal of associated app data

9. Data Retention
Kairos keeps data only as long as reasonably necessary to operate the app, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service.
If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify personal data associated with that account, subject to lawful retention requirements.

10. Children's Privacy
Kairos is not intended for children under 13, or for users below the higher minimum age required in their country.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children who are not permitted to use the service.

11. International Use
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own using appropriate safeguards and commercially reasonable protections.

12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are significant, we may notify you inside the app.
